Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re new to shockwave or just want more details before booking, here are answers to the most common questions I receive. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch.
Shockwave is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate healing in damaged tissues. It helps reduce inflammation, break down scar tissue, and promote blood flow — making it ideal for chronic pain and soft tissue conditions.
Thanks for Booking!
Your session is confirmed. Below is everything you need to know to get the most out of your treatment and feel confident heading into your appointment.
What to Expect During Your Session
- Each appointment lasts approximately 15–30 minutes.
- I’ll arrive at your location with all equipment needed — you just need to provide a quiet space.
- We’ll review your intake form, talk through your symptoms, and tailor the session to your condition.
- Treatment involves the use of a radial shockwave device applied directly to the affected area. You may feel mild discomfort during certain phases of the treatment.
What to Expect After Your Session
- You may experience mild soreness or tenderness for 24–48 hours — similar to post-workout soreness.
- Drink plenty of water after your session to support recovery and flush out inflammation.
- Avoid intense activity on the treated area for the rest of the day.
- Gradual relief typically builds with each session. Most clients see results after 3–5 sessions.
- If you notice sharp pain, swelling, or bruising beyond mild discomfort, please contact me.
Before Your Appointment
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area.
- No need to apply creams or lotions beforehand.

Is Shockwave Treatment Right for You?
Shockwave is non-invasive, drug-free, and effective for many chronic soft tissue conditions — but it’s not for everyone. If you have a pacemaker, are pregnant, or have an active infection or cancer near the treatment area, please consult with your healthcare provider first.
If you have a chronic medical condition that may affect your ability to safely receive treatment, we may request clearance from your healthcare provider before proceeding.

Ultrasound gel is essential for effective shockwave treatment. It serves as a conductive medium that eliminates air pockets between the applicator and your skin. This ensures that the shockwave energy is transmitted efficiently into the targeted tissue, rather than being lost or reflected at the surface. The gel also allows the applicator to glide smoothly, making the treatment more comfortable and consistent.
There are two main types of shockwave: radial and focal.
Radial shockwave spreads energy in a broader, more superficial pattern, making it ideal for treating surface-level issues such as tendonitis, muscle tension, and chronic pain near the surface.
Focal shockwave penetrates deeper and delivers concentrated energy to a precise point, typically used in clinical settings for targeting deep-tissue injuries or calcifications.
Most providers — including myself — use radial devices, which are highly effective for a wide range of conditions and are well-suited for safe, comfortable in-home treatments. My service is designed to bring professional-grade radial shockwave directly to your door, offering convenience without compromising results.
Most people see noticeable improvement after 3–5 sessions, although some may benefit from more or fewer depending on the condition and severity. We’ll evaluate your progress along the way and adjust the plan if needed.
